Baking Magic by Sasha Nary
I received this for my birthday. The cakes and desserts are beautiful. I’ve always wanted to make macarons so I’m going to try out her macaron recipe. I’ll keep y’all posted on how that goes.
Fiction
Trouble the Saints by Alaya Dawn Johnson
I’m listening to the audiobook and the voice acting is *chef’s kiss* 👩🏿🍳 💋. Set in the 1940s, we follow the story of Phyliss Leblanc, assassin for the mob. She’s trying to decide between the life she loves and hates or get back to the one she loves at a dangerous cost. It’s engaging in the way the words appear like a dancing cloud immersed in the images bringing them to life.
No One Left To Come Looking For You by Sam Lipsyte
NYC. 90s. Before Guluani. The music venues were everywhere, music pouring out of every corner. From dive bars to indie music venues, this dark comedy mystery follows a rock musician, Jack S. After the lead singer of their band disappears with his bass. It shows a love of New York, the old New York, where rent was low, dreams and ambitions high. Also, the seedy side where corruption is at every turn, even places you would never think.

Therapy Isn’t just for White People by Kiara Imani
I relate to this memoir in many ways. I was always told I sounded white-someone even said I speak the Queen’s English because I was proper. Too many of us suburban living Black girls know what I’m talking about. Just like the author, figuring out who you are in this world is hard. The more I read, the more I relate. I will say, it was never taboo to go to therapy in my family. My family talked of mental health and went to therapy. I went to therapy as well because the anger was real. Growth, I tell ya, is a beautiful thing.
Save the Cat! Writes A Novel by Jessica Brody
My novel is still a work in progress and a gal can use all the help she can get. Many people have sworn by this book so I thought I would check it out. So far, it has not disappointed me. If you’re going on the novel writing journey, check it out.
What books are y’all reading? Do y’all have any suggestions for a gal? I can never say no to adding more books to my TBR. 😂
Until next time,
