Hey y’all,

I’ve been m.i.a in your inbox due to the one thing we all dread, moving. Packing up every item you own and then unpacking those same items in a new place is akin to torture. Especially when you have close to 100 books and an insane amount of kitchen items.

I miss cooking and reading, but moving makes me rethink (briefly) how much I don’t miss it. Mainly due to the new kitchen having half the space of our last kitchen and no place for bookshelves.

Thankfully, my sissy, mom, and nieces are coming to help organize and get us situated in the new place. Without their help, it would take us weeks to get our life in order, especially with having a kiddo. Not to mention, it’s Mardi Gras season.

However, once we get settled in, I’ll be back sharing the books, recipes, food, and restaurants I love and you love reading.

In the meantime, in between time, here are some things I’m enjoying:

  • The movie, Devotion. Jonathan Majors has no business being that fine and that good in this movie. I cried my eyes out watching it. If you are looking for something to help bring on the tears, this is your movie. The story jumps around a bit for my liking but the acting is top-notch, especially Christina Jackson. Her portrayal of Daisy Brown is Oscar-worthy, in my opinion. The movie is based on the book of the same name, about the first African-American US Navy fighter pilot, Ensign Jesse Brown. It takes place during the Korean War, dubbed the forgotten war-maybe because no one “won”. This is a true story so it hits differently. It’s even 83% rotten on Rotten Tomatoes. Once y’all watch it, let me know your thoughts.

  • Walmart+. As someone who has a picky 4-year-old, being able to quickly order things I know he likes and have them get here in less than 30 minutes by paying an extra $10, makes this service worth it. Not to mention, it’s cheaper than the other delivery services out there.

  • King cake! The boo brought home a Caluda’s King Cake that is filled with Oreo Cream Cheese. Y’all, the decadence! If you are in Nola, you should try it out. If you are not in Nola, you’re out of luck getting this flavor but if you have about $80 to spend, you can order king cakes on Gold Belly. I only trust king cakes coming from the New Orleans/Metairie area but you can try from other cities if you want. (I’m judging you though.)

  • My Kindle. I never thought I would say those words again. I am Team Apple to a fault but the Kindle is the perfect size to travel with. The version I have even fits in my back pocket. What makes it even better? My Kindle is from 2015. I was sure it would not turn on but y’all, it still works! This Kindle version was originally supposed to compete with the iPad. Those features, such as the internet and shopping, don’t work but I only use the Kindle for reading purposes. Makes me happy I didn’t chuck them out when we were moving.

Until next time y’all,

Xoxo~Christilisa
