When my son, Maximus, turned two I knew I wanted to whip up something that he would eat. He’s a picky eater, but he loves bananas and Oreos, so I decided to make pudding. Chad had been raving about The Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding, so of course, I had to find the recipe and try my hand at it. In the process, I decided to make an Oreo pudding as well. I made both and they were a hit! The banana pudding wasn’t quite like Magnolia Bakery but it was still delicious. The Oreo pudding was incredibly rich but it was my absolute favorite. It did take some time to make so if you decide to make this, do plan on two days or starting incredibly early in the day.
This recipe is adapted from three recipes:
Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding Recipe
Though this recipe turned out better than I hoped, there are things I would change. I will list those after the recipe.
Whisk ice-cold water and condensed milk in a bowl until smooth.
In a separate bowl, pour in the boxes of pudding mix. Slowly whisk in water/condensed milk mixture. Continue to whisk until smooth.
Refrigerate for one hour or until pudding is set.
While pudding is chilling, prepare the stabilized whipped cream.
Mix cream cheese and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
In a separate bowl, whisk heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add in the cream cheese mixture. Mix until creamy.
Remove the pudding from the fridge. Add the pudding to the stabilized whipped cream. Mix until fully blended.
Crush Oreos in a Ziploc bag. ( A rolling pin or mallet works great). Add crushed Oreo layer to the bottom of a bowl or glass baking pan. Spoon pudding mixture to cover. Repeats two to three times.
Refrigerate for 8 hours.
Things I Would Change:
The condensed milk may have been a little too sweet. I would go with a different version to see if that helps with the richness.
Chill my bowls! I don’t think my water was as cold as it could have been so a chilled metal bowl would have helped.
Use a mix of mini Oreos and big Oreos. I actually ran out of Oreos so I used the mini version on the last two layers. I wanted to make sure there was enough Oreo in every bite.
I know y’all are wondering if Maximus ate the pudding, he didn’t. However, I gained about 5 pounds after eating the majority of this pudding. I hope this pudding helps y’all stay cool during this summer heat. I would even freeze it to create an even more chilled treat. When y’all make this, please do share photos and feedback. Recipes are always up for changes and you know, teamwork makes the dream work.
Until next time,
xoxo~Christilisa
I'm here for everything Oreo and tried the recipe with oat milk instead of condensed. Loved the texture!
Oreo anything is a win-win in our house! This was absolutely delicious. Thank you for sharing the recipe.
