School days are almost upon us. That means lunches need to be made and dinner needs to be cooked.Â
As someone who needs structure but hates the idea of planning (I know, make it make sense lol) I started looking for ways to get that structure with the ability to change things up if I need/want to.Â
This what I have come up with
Kid/family cookbooks are your friend
I’m a cookbook junkie, so I have plenty to peruse through but if you’re not into cookbooks like myself, here are three cookbooks that will make dinner planning and lunches easier: Lunchbox, Serious New Cook, Little Critics.Â
Kids Cooking Clubs
Thanks to Maximus’s Uncle Bubby and Aunt M&M, we’ve been receiving recipes from Raddish Kids Cooking Club. Maximus gets so excited when they come. They include three recipes and comes with a cooking tool. They are themed (last month we got Jamaican recipes and silicone cupcake liners) and include the ingredient list and give information about the culture and pictures of the steps. This is a great way to get kids cooking and enjoy family time.
Kid cooking tools kit-
Maximus has been joining us in the kitchen and enjoying the chopping and cutting part of prep. I want him to be safe so getting a kitchen tool kit made for kiddos is perfect. Here is one that I’ve got my eye on—Limited-time deal: 50PCS Kids Kitchen Cooking Set - Crocodile Wooden Kid Safe Knife Cutting Board Apron Gloves Fruit Vegetable Crinkle Cutters Peeler Serrated Edges Plastic Toddlers Knives, Kids Knifes for Real Cooking https://a.co/d/b4RoGxh
Bento Boxes-Bentgo is a good brand as it has something for everyone. The containers range from snack, lunch, salad, dinner, meal prep and more. The Lunchbox cookbook utilizes these and shows multiple ways to use them for lunches.
In August, I will share three recipes from each cookbook and prepare one of the Raddish Kids Club boxes. Not quite sure how that is going to look but either way, it will be helpful.Â
I don’t know about y’all but it takes me several weeks to get back into the groove of school life so I hope this list helps.Â
